Sasanian Kingdom – 488 AD

Obverse: Bust of Kavād I facing right, wearing mural crown with frontal crescent, korymbos set on crescent, pearled earrings and necklace. Kavād's name in right field.
Reverse: Central fire altar column with hanging ribbons; flanked by two attendants; star and crescent flanking flames. Mint and date in the fields to the right and left.

LEGEND
Obv: Bust of King Kavād (Kavādh) I facing right, wearing mural crown with frontal crescent, korymbos set on crescent, pearled earrings and necklace. Two crescents on each shoulder with ribbons rising from each arm; 5-point star behind crown. Kavād’s name (in Pahlavi) written upwards in field to the right. Rev: Central fire altar column with hanging ribbons; flanked by two attendants; star and crescent flanking flames. Mint legend in field right of the right attendant, date of year in field left of the left attendant.
