Medieval Flanders – 1367 AD

Obverse: Helmeted Lion standing (perhaps seated) left wearing crowned helmet with elaborate lion-headed crest.
Reverse: Composite cross fleurée with D at center; F L A N letters in the quarter angles within a poly-lobed tressure.

LEGEND
Obv: LV – DOVICVS DEI GRA COM’ Ƶ DNS FLANDR – IE, Helmeted Lion standing left wearing crowned helmet with elaborate lion-headed crest and before ornate spired (Gothic baldaquin) throne. Legend, FLANDRES, in exergue. Rev: Voided composite cross fleurée with D at center; F L A N letters in the quarter angles; all within poly-lobed tressure.
